Apropos of nothing, I would like to post a few Pixies videos.
The Pixies never became well-known when they were together, but they were extremely influential, especially on the grunge scene that came half a decade later. A mixture of melodic pop and punk-influenced discord and noise, the early Pixies’s songs often had strong sexual overtones, while later tunes often had lyrics with space and flying themes.
The band was formed in Boston back in the late 80s. Black Francis, the lead singer and main songwriter, is from L.A., while Kim Deal, the bassist and other main song writer, is from Dayton, Ohio. She went on to a solid career with her band, the Breeders.
I saw the Pixies live in 92 or 93, and frankly they didn’t seem to be a great live band, more of a studio band. But that can’t detract from their great songs.

If you can’t see the videos please tell me in the comments. I know of some sites where videos posted are never visible to me, even though it seems like everyone else can see them without any problem. Maddening. My browser does not even recognize that an object is there at all.
I think if you were born in the 80′s and didn’t at some point get incredibly drunk/whatever whilst listening to Surfer Rosa you missed out on life. Pity they never blew up, but they were used as the theme music to the most kick-arse film ever made.

I agree that everyone should, at least once, rock out to Surfer Rosa while drinking or shall we say otherwise engaging. But not before the age of 16 or so.
