I do wish I had the right words to express the feelings I have at this time, on this date. But I feel at a somewhat of a loss.
Our Nation currently has so many problems that need to be worked through, and a small minority of citizens, loyal though they be, preparing nonetheless to make the solutions that much harder to implement. We truly have a lot of work ahead of us, and we must drag these unfortunate compatriots along with us.
But on this day, let’s not talk about these things. Let’s not talk about how this same, small subset of Americans were recently calling large swaths of the nation ‘traitors’, and ‘terrorist-sympathizers’.
Today, I would simply like to mark this important occasion. There will be another day to confront our demons, finally. And I would be willing to believe, given what we have seen over the past year, and probably for the first time, that we will.
Congratulations, Barrack H. Obama, and congratulations to the Nation as well. If our system is truly self-correcting, we will soon have the proof of it.
